Signs and Symptoms of Liver Dysfunction



The liver is involved in digestion. If your liver isn’t working properly you may experience bloating or gasiness.

The liver helps to regulate blood sugar levels along with the pancreas and adrenals.

Symptoms that the liver is not balancing blood sugar levels are;

Getting shaky, weak or aggressive if you skip a meal. Abnormal appetite - Drowsiness after a meal - Frequent urination - Insomnia - Night sweats

The liver also regulates how the body gets rid of toxins and as the biggest organ of elimination is the skin, sometimes people will develop skin rashes, psoriases, eczema, boils, moles or acne.

Abnormalities in the levels of fats in the blood stream Arteries blocked with fat - Build up of fat in other body organs - Lumps of fat under the skin - Excessive weight gain - Inability to lose weight even when dieting - Sluggish metabolism - Pot belly - Cellulite - Fatty liver ( rolls of fat around the upper abdomen )

External signs Coated tongue - Bad breath - Itchy skin - Excessive sweating - Offensive body odour - Dark circles under the eyes - Yellow discolouration of the eyes - Red swollen or itchy eyes - Acne rosacea - Red palms and soles which may be itchy or inflamed - Flushed facial appearance or excessive facial blood vessels

Hormonal inbalances Intolerance to hormone replacement therapy or the contraceptive pill - Menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes may be more severe - Pre menstrual symptoms may be more severe

Head symptoms I myself suffered greatly with head and ear symptoms from a dysfunctional liver - Tinnitus - Blocked ears - Headaches - Back of neck aching and stiffness - Burning and red eyes - Shoulder pain and stiffness - Pins and needles in fingers and sometimes legs - Itchy feet - Hair loss ( I would be constantly vacuuming my hair up ) - Severe muscle weakness and wasting
